A Wakeboard Tower Creates Great Fun

Last summer we visited a friend’s summer home on a lake.  They have a delightful home and a wonderful location. And they have all the gear you can imagine to create a super fun boating experience. That’s what really made it memorable.

It all starts with their boat.  It’s a Moomba wakeboarding boat.  I’d never heard of one before or really of wakeboarding, for that matter.  Our kids jumped at the chance and had such a great time.

The boat was decked out with all the accessories, I guess, that you need for wakeboarding.  It has a wakeboard tower including speakers and lights and a bimini top.  The boat sat about 4 people comfortably, and I tagged along as often as I could.  It was so much fun!

They had wakeboards that were good for the first timers and, of course, the latest designs for the veterans.  They really put on a show, with their graps, heelside 360s, sideslides, and who knows what else they were doing!  There were twists and turns and aerobatics galore.  Have I mentioned it was great fun? These kids are great athletes to begin with and they seemed to relish the opportunity to show off a little in front of the new guys.

The youngsters and less adventurous oldsters took turns being pulled behind the boat on an inflatable raft. This may have been as much fun as the wakeboarding, although quite a bit tamer. Overall, it was nothing like the boating we used to do as kids.  Everything was amped up ten times at least.  The music was blasting, the boat was racing, the kids were flying.  And everyone came out alive and well, having had a wonderful time.

Wild boating wasn’t the only focus of our weekend.  We also enjoyed cookouts and bonfires and stargazing away from the city.  But we’ll be back for more wakeboarding adventures next year.  You can count on it.
